Hello Doctor, I have a sore throat.
Hi! Since when are you feeling this?
It started two days ago, with mild pain that gets worse when I swallow or talk a lot.
Do you have a fever, cough, or any other symptoms along with the sore throat?
A slight cough, no fever.
Antibiotic
Antibiotic
Unfortunately, for legal and practical reasons, not everything the doctor can help you with digitally is available. The doctor will always make an individual assessment of your situation, but below you can read more about how we handle some typical issues.
Recipes
Recipes
We can generally renew your regular medication, but the doctor will always make an individual assessment. We do not write prescriptions for strong painkillers or sedatives (A and B preparations), e.g. Cosylan, Paralgin forte and Imovane.
Medical certificate
Medical certificate
After individual assessment, you can receive a medical certificate documenting absence from school/study. We do not issue certificates of absence on exam dates.
Sick leave
Sick leave
We cannot write a sick note to NAV via digital consultation, with a few exceptions. This is up to the individual doctor to assess.
Urinary tract infection
Urinary tract infection
We can help you if you have a urinary tract infection. Our doctors will assess your situation and prescribe antibiotics where appropriate. However, it is important to note that in between visits, the doctor will need you to contact a doctor in person, with a urine sample. In that case, we will not be able to prescribe antibiotics.
Reference
Reference
Referrals require medical need, assessed by a doctor based on your issue and history. We provide referrals when appropriate. Approval by specialists or insurers is not guaranteed. Please share all relevant info with the doctor.
Cough & cough suppressant medications
Cough & cough suppressant medications
Your GP can help you manage your cough. This may include advice, medication and further tests. That said, we cannot prescribe cough suppressants that contain sedatives, such as Cosylan. This is because this is classified as a narcotic and is addictive.
X-ray / MRI / mammography
X-ray / MRI / mammography
Vaccines
Vaccines
We can help with guidance on which vaccines are relevant to you, both in connection with travel and other situations. We will write prescriptions for you, so you can pick up and have the vaccine administered, for example, at a pharmacy of your choice.
Sexually transmitted diseases
Sexually transmitted diseases
We can help you with both testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). You will receive a test kit in the mail, and you can take the test at home. Once the answer has reached the doctor, we can possibly prescribe relevant treatment for you. We cannot start treatment without a positive test.
Skin/rash
Skin/rash
Rashes and other skin problems can often be visualized well in pictures. Therefore, chat consultation is often a good choice. We can help assess most skin conditions, and we can write a referral to a dermatologist, if relevant. This is always up to the individual doctor, and no guarantee. If there is suspicion of infections, we will most often recommend a physical examination. An exception is tick bites, where we can prescribe antibiotics, if you have classic symptoms of erythema migrans.
Childhood illnesses/fever
Childhood illnesses/fever
We can guide you on how to manage your child's acute illness. However, we have a low threshold for recommending a physical examination by a doctor, because children can become unwell quickly, and it can be difficult to assess a child's general condition during a digital consultation.
Respiratory tract infection & cough
Respiratory tract infection & cough
We can guide you with respiratory complaints (cough, sore throat, stuffy nose, sinus problems, etc.), including recommending or prescribing symptom-relieving preparations. We cannot assess whether you need antibiotics, or prescribe strong cough suppressants (Cosylan or Solvipect comp).
Painkiller
Painkiller
We can provide guidance on the use of painkillers. And write or fill out prescriptions for weak painkillers, where the doctor considers this relevant. We do not write prescriptions for addictive painkillers (A and B preparations), such as Paralgin forte, Nobligan and Morphine.
Contraception
Contraception
We can help with advice on contraceptives, as well as prescription renewals. Please note that some contraceptives require regular physical checks of blood pressure, among other things.
